Mission Hope Cancer Centre opens doors

The Mission Hope Cancer Centre has opened in Santa Maria, California, US.

The facility spans 44,000 square feet while encompassing three floors. At present, Marian Cancer Center and Central Coast Oncology are housed in the centre. A host of other facilities including Marian PET/CT Centre, Marian Breast Imaging, lab services, and a UCLA Clinical Research Centre will shift into it later.

A Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator has been installed in the radiation oncology unit of the facility. The same unit also features skylights. The centre will also be equipped with a pair of linear accelerators in concrete vaults. Further, there will be a garden entryway for radiation therapy patients.

Other features of the centre include private consulting rooms, a balcony for staff and physicians in the second storey, separate entrances and waiting rooms for breast cancer patients, and a chemotherapy treatment centre in the third level which offers views of the surrounding hills. The look of the property has been complemented by installation of ocean panoramas from surf photographer Chris Burkhard in all the stories of the building.
