Millennium UN Plaza Hotel undergoes major upgrades

The Millennium UN Plaza Hotel in New York, US has embarked on a major renovation project.

The first phase of the project is worth $30 million and will lead to the creation of a luxury West Tower. The tower will comprise 154 large upgraded rooms and suites and the Skyline Club on the 30th storey which will be designed by French interior designer Didier Gomez. The guest rooms will sport an understate style with floor-to-ceiling windows and elegant warm interiors while offering contemporary amenities.

The Skyline Club will offer a host of facilities such as exclusive check-in, and Wi-Fi access. It will also allow views of Manhattan and the East River, as well as enable use of one of the two adjacent boardrooms. The lobby and public areas of the hotel will receive a facelift too and will sport a new coffee bar. The redesigned tower is scheduled to reopen in September 2012.

Phase II of the project is slated to commence by 2013 and will involve creation of a new restaurant concept, bar and a fully revamped lobby in the hotel. The third phase will complete the refurbishment of the East Tower.
