Spanish hotel group Meliá Hotels International has signed a lease agreement to open a fifth hotel in Dusseldorf, Germany in mid-2013.

The four-star hotel, named Innside Dusseldorf Hafen, will be located inside the Colorium building in the Medienhafen area of the city. The building, designed by British architect William Allen Alsop, encompasses 17 floors at 62 metres of height. The building facade is adorned with over 2,000 colourful panels of glass featuring full-colour spaces and differentiated four-colour elements. The top floor of the structure comprises signal-red technology level which protrudes above the port basin and is lit up at night.

The hotel will consist of 134 rooms and suites, along with a pair of advanced conference rooms which will cover five to 14 stories of the building as well as its ground floor. A significant feature of the new hotel include the Innside Skybar & Lounge which will offer various culinary options as well as views of the surrounding port and city centre.

The building levels not occupied by the hotel will house office rooms along with showrooms of a major mobile phone provider or a fashion label and the Dusseldorf branch of a media academy.
