McCarthy & Stone to develop retirement housing scheme in Poole
British residential property developer McCarthy & Stone has been awarded planning permission by the Borough of Poole to develop a retirement housing scheme in Poole, UK.
The new retirement housing scheme will be a 12-storey building, which will be constructed by redeveloping the former Poole Convent site. The redesign of the scheme would be led by Glenn Howells Architects.
Designed to provide a modern and well equipped retirement housing scheme, the development will offer a mix of both much needed Assisted Living (Extra Care Housing) and Later Living Retirement Housing for people in later life.
Taking reference from the Art Deco style, the proposed building will feature curved forms, deep balconies and white horizontal treatment. Complementing the existing townscape, the scheme will feature coastal design elements.
