Mather & co goes footie mad
Exhibition and interior design consultancy Mather & Co has designed a new home for the National Football Museum in Manchester’s Urbis building.
Mather & Co, which also designed the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, was commissioned for the project two years ago, following the decision to move the collection from its previous home in Preston. The new museum houses a collection of some 3,000 objects, works of art and photographs.
Mather & Co has been responsible for all aspects of the museum's design from wayfinding and signage to all showcase interiors and interactive and spacial layouts.
Using a number of creative interactive exhibits, user-friendly touchscreen technology and pioneering audio-visual techniques, the practice says it has sought to create 'a modern attraction that will draw visitors from all over the world, and appeal to football supporters of all ages and affiliations'.
