Marc Mimram has completed the first phase of the Strasbourg School of Architecture (Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Strasbourg). Located in the centre of the city, La Fabrique (The Factory), pictured above, is a new 4,500 sq m building to be accompanied by the refurbishment of the adjoining building, Le Garage, due to be completed in December.
Mimram used a series of 'stacking blocks' that give the appearance of being pivotedas a way to overcome numerous planning constraints and provide maximum volume.
Designed with students in mind, the new school aims to allow students to 'experience' the study of architecture, with focus on its shared spaces to aid student interaction and collaboration.
