Mansell, a Balfour Beatty brand, has completed a £9.4 million ($14.40 million), three-storied Greenwich Gardens Extra Care development in Mackworth for the Sanctuary Group in Derby.

Including various innovative features, the Greenwich Gardens Extra Care development features 98 apartments, of which, 20 are for sale and the remaining 78 for rent. The development will provide accommodation and care facilities for the over-55s.

The facilities, which are provided for the residents, include a cinema/TV room, a hair and beauty salon, health suite, gymnasium, library, restaurant and kitchens. Residents can also enjoy a sensory garden.

Each apartment is constructed with energy-efficient features like mechanical ventilation heat recovery system and composite doors with high U-values to provide thermal properties. These features have helped the development to achieve a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating.

The development also includes an innovative fire suppression approach which uses a fine spray of water to extinguish fires known as full misting.
