Luca Nichetto creates Stewie floor lamp for Foscarini
Italian brand Foscarini has launched the Stewie floor lamp.
The design of the luminaire has been conceived by Italian designer Luca Nichetto. The floor lamp derives its name from a cartoon character from 'Family Guy' named Stewie Griffin. Its design draws inspiration from a unique washbasin and Japanese paper lamps. The lamp is made of polymeric foam which is light, permeable to light, and can be paired with fabric.
Stewie emanates light from below which also radiates upward. The luminaire can also be positioned toward the wall which helps it generate a softer, and more diffused light.
The lamp has been showcased at the Milan Furniture Fair 2012 held in Italy.
