Long Wharf Theatre to start upgrades soon
Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut, US is set to begin a $3.8 million facelift in June 2012.
The project has been designed by Gregg, Wies & Gardner Architects and will upgrade its Claire Tow Stage in the C. Newton Schenck III Mainstage Theatre. Work will involve creation of a new exterior entrance, an additional concession bar, a new lighting grid, and expansion of its lobby area. The refurbished facility will also be equipped with new heating and air-conditioning systems while sporting new restrooms.
The mainstage seating of the building will be substituted with new seats which are more spacious and have increased legroom between rows. The number of seats will be reduced from 486 to slightly over 400 following the makeover.
The theatre has already raised about $2.56 million for the project. It includes a sum of $1.25 million contributed by The Tow Foundation. Work is scheduled to be completed by 2012 end.
