London Design Festival to showcase Studio William’ cutlery designs

The 2012 London Design Festival will include a unique product showcase of dessert cutlery design from British cutlery company, Studio William that will be displayed in the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Sackler Centre.

Most of Studio William's designs are inspired by nature and all of its patterns are named after trees.

The Royal Oak Gold Plate is named after the tree, inside which, Charles II hid to escape the Roundheads. The handle reveals the historical 'Kings Pattern' in 24 carat gold plating, which can either be displayed on the table or concealed from view.

The Karri range is featured as a visually striking 'standing up' knife which is perfectly balanced for stability while the Olive range, inspired by the Olive tree, features asymmetric lines. It also won the Red Dot design award in 2007 and has been added to the permanent collection in the Design Museum in Essen, Germany.

The Larch features historical influences such as the three-pringed fork head, while its design gives the pattern a modern flavour. Another design Mahogany Satin is due to be launched later this year. It has already won three international design awards.

Mulberry, the winner of the Red Dot design award and the pattern chosen by No. 10 Downing Street, is a design suitable for both traditional and contemporary table settings. Last design from the range is the Tilia Mirror, which features a simple, clean flowing and elegant pattern.

First staged in 2003, the London Design Festival is one of the world's most important annual design events. The Festival programme is made up of over 300 events and exhibitions staged by hundreds of partner organisations across the design spectrum and from around the world.
