London College building in running for world award

The new King’s Cross Campus of Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London by Stanton Williams and the Vanke Triple V Gallery in Tianjin, China by Ministry of Design are among the buildings shortlisted for awards at this year’s World Festival of Architecture, which takes place next month in Singapore.

Buildings are shortlisted in 33 categories, including hotel/leisure, office, and culture, and the awards are open to finished projects and those that are yet to be completed.

Category winners will be announced on the evenings of the first and second day of the festival. The judges, which this year include architects Will Alsop, Jim Eyre and Ben van Berkel, will then award one of the category winners the title World Building of the Year 2012.

The World Festival of Architecture is being held between 3 and 5 October at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and conference centre.
