Lend Lease wins $140 million technology centre project in Scotland
Australian construction company Lend Lease Group has secured a contract for the development of £89 million ($138.9 million) Technology and Innovation Centre for the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland.
Pursuant to the contract, the company will build a triangular building in 260,000 square feet brownfield Glasgow city centre.The building will be nine-storey tall and will encompass an area of 25,000 square metre.
The new building will accommodate open plan offices, three lecture theatres and specialist laboratory space. The building will also accommodate conferencing, event and exhibition space. The central to the scheme is central strium, which will allow natural light to permeate every level of the building.
The building will be highly energy-efficient and will comply with the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ‘A’ rating standards. The building will also incorporate several other sustainable elements, based on which it will be targeted for BREEAM Excellent rating.
Construction on the scheme is likely to span for about 87-week period and is likely to open in 2014.
