Lambert-St. Louis Airport baggage claim revamp progresses
Lambert-St. Louis Airport in Missouri, US has completed the second of the three-phased renovation of the baggage claim space in its Terminal 1.
The Baggage Carousels 3 and 4 has now been reopened and sport higher and brighter ceilings, circular cove lighting system, as well as new wall finishes. The carousels also have been equipped with upgraded heating and ventilation systems, and new directional signage following the makeover. Bag carousels 5 and 6 will soon be closed for carrying out the third and final phase of the facelift.
The revamp work forms part of the airport's $70 million Airport Experience programme which commenced in 2008. The programme involves interior refurbishment of Terminal 1 and its concourses.
Work will also start soon on a new atrium between the ticketing level and the lower level by the former B Concourse checkpoint in Terminal 1. There will be demolition of an escalator and stairwell and the space will be opened up for the atrium.
