LaGuardia Airport to get $83 million parking garage

The board of Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, also known as PANYNJ, has approved $82.9 million design and construction of a new East Parking Garage at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in the US.

Development of the new parking garage building is part of major airport redevelopment that will complete with the replacement of the nearly half-century-old Central Terminal Building (CTB).

Approximately 1,100 vehicle spaces will be included in the new parking lot, which will be built opposite Terminal C, home to Delta Air Lines.

The new garage will accommodate the increasing volume of Delta passengers using Terminals C and D, as the airline modernises both terminals. Work will begin in 2013, and is scheduled for completion by the end of February 2015.

Currently, there are seven parking lots consisting of 6,800 public spaces at LaGuardia.
