Kraus-Anderson to build $39 million Third North scheme in US

US-based Kraus-Anderson Construction Company (KA) plans to begin construction on Schafer Richardson's 'Third North,' a residential scheme in Minneapolis, Minnesota that has been designed by Minneapolis-based UrbanWorks Architecture LLC.

The pipeline scheme will be a six-storey residential block, which will offer a total space of 266,000 square feet. The development will be located at 800 N. 3rd Street in downtown Minneapolis and is likely to entail a cost of $39 million.

The Third North will offer 204 apartment units and two levels of underground parking, in addition to various amenities for the residents. Certain dwellings will have granite countertops, fireplaces and private balconies.

The amenities will consist of a weight and fitness equipment room, group fitness room, conference and computer center, bike shop, dog run, pet grooming room and a community lounge that flows into a courtyard. The exterior amenities include courtyard with a pool, spa, fire pit, lawn game area, and built-in grilling stations. The scheme will be illuminated using energy-efficient LED lighting.

The parking garage of the development will have electric vehicle-charging stations. The building will be wrapped by an array of boulevard trees, which will be planted in a Swedish vault system that will conserve water and maximise the health of the trees.

Groundbreaking on the scheme is scheduled for 30 August 2012 and the project is scheduled for completion by December 2013.
