Knoll reintroduces Platner Easy Chair and Ottoman collection

Pennsylvania-based office furnishing manufacturer KnollStudio has reintroduced two new additions to the classic collection of seating and tables designed by the American architect Warren Platner at Salone Del Mobile 2012.

Originally designed in 1966 by Warren Platner, the collection was aimed at invoking a “decorative, graceful kind of design. The Easy Chair and Ottoman are made of finely-finished steel rods combined with a variety of upholstery. The rods are bent by hand on a jig designed by Platner, and is available in nickel or bronze.

The hand manufactured Easy Chair is a popular sculptural icon combining geometry and colour. It is available with or without the Ottoman, and can also be used independently. It features 1400 welds.

While many Platner Collection pieces have been in continuous production, the Easy Chair and Ottoman were produced only between 1966 and 1988. These have now been reintroduced at Salone Del Mobile 2012 Global Design Festival by Knoll to familiarise people with Platner's quirky touch.
