Kirkwood Wal-Mart opens expansion
The Kirkwood Wal-Mart in Missouri, US has opened its expansion.
The expansion sports a new layout featuring wider aisles, lower shelving to improve visibility, as well as directional signage on every aisle. The facility now also imbibes several green features such as skylights which allow daylight harvesting. This reaps daily energy cost cuts in lighting by up to 75%.
The entire building has also been equipped with LED lighting fixtures which lead to 70% energy savings compared to conventional fluorescent lighting systems. Installation of low-flow toilets and faucets in the washrooms adds to the sustainability by reducing the amount of water usage. The facility has also employed measures to reduce waste.
