Kier undergoes construction of Phoenix Learning Community
Kier Construction is undergoing work on a new £17.8 million ($27.91 million) school christened Phoenix Learning Community in Dawley, UK.
The school is being constructed on Paddock Mount which was formerly a colliery site. The facility will have a student capacity of 900 and will specialise in sport and science. It will be a secondary school providing teaching facilities, along with public facilities such as a fitness centre, health and sports facilities, financed by a Sport England grant.
The property will comprise a competition-level eight-court regional sports hall facility, and outside a synthetic turf rugby pitch, as well as grass football pitches. Among its other features include a grass running track, an eight-lane competition BMX track, external science gardens, and an outdoor performance space.
Construction of the facility forms part of the Telford & Wrekin Council Building Schools for the Future Programme.
