Kier secures St John's development contract in UK
UK-based Kier Construction has secured a £25 million ($39.22 million) contract from the University of Northampton for the construction of St John's student residences in Northampton.
The St John's student residence development will be built in Northampton town centre on the site of the St John's surface car park. The University in April 2012, secured planning approval for the scheme.
The new hall of residence will comprise of 464 high-quality accommodation, which will be made available to both postgraduates as well as international students. The building has also been designed to create an interesting and exciting space in the particular area of Northampton. The design of the building will be punctuated by varying height levels, use of curves and irregular shapes. It will feature glazing and contrasting panels, which will be used to demarcate key areas like entrances.
Construction on the scheme is due for completion in December 2013.
