KBR secures contract for mixed-use development in Virginia
US-based KBR Building Group has secured a contract from The Shooshan Company for the construction of The Place at Founders Square, a mixed use development in Arlington, Virginia.
The Place will be a new 1.2 million square feet development, which will be a part of Founders Square. The new development will consist of a residential tower. Construction of the scheme is targeted for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification.
Pursuant to contract, the company will develop a 17-storey residential tower, which will offer a total area of 238,060 square feet. Amenities for the residents will consist of two custom year-round spas, a resident-use bar and interior clubroom.
The tower will have a prominent curved window wall, a rooftop terrace with wood decking. The other green elements of the building will include an energy efficient HVAC system, use of regional building materials, and water use reduction techniques for the building operations.
