KB Home opens net-zero house in Texas
KB Home has opened its first energy positive home named ZeroHouse 2.0 in Texas, US.
The new house has been designed to generate all the energy that it will consume. It has imbibed a host of energy-saving features which make it a net-zero facility. The features include installation of increased insulation units along with high-performance HVAC systems. The building has also been equipped with dual-pane low-e windows which further contribute to a reduction in energy consumption.
The roofs of the ZeroHouse 2.0 have been fitted with energy-efficient solar panels. In addition, the new facility incorporates various advanced technologies. These include incorporation of an energy monitoring system as well as automated control systems.
