JK Rowling to build tree houses at Edinburgh home

World-famous author JK Rowling, of the Harry Potter series fame, plans to build two tree houses at the backyard of her house in Edinburgh, Scotland.

To be built by Blue Forest, the tree houses will be two-story high structures, and will be built on wooden stilts. The houses will have balconies, turrets, trap doors, secret entrances, slides, and spiral staircases.

The design of the tree-houses will resonate the design of Hogwarts, the school from the author's novels. The houses will feature bay windows, a perch for an owl and a rope bridge connected to underground tunnels beneath the garden. The tree houses will be screened from view by an existing mature cypress hedge, boundary wall and security screen fence.

JK Rowling has filed a planning application for the new developments on her compound. The tree houses are expected to cost $150,000, reports BBC.
