Jacobs' Irvine office secures LEED Platinum
The Jacobs office at the Michelson Building in Irvine, California, has bagged LEED Platinum from the US Green Building Council.
The facility spans over an area of 50,000 square feet and employs a host of green features. The office sports an open-plan concept making extensive use of full-height and transom glass. This helps in optimum penetration of natural light throughout, which in turn reaps energy cost cuts. The building has also been equipped with energy-efficient LED signage and lighting controls which further slash energy consumption.
The wood incorporated in the millwork and workstations of the office are Forest Stewardship Council-eligible. Use of low-VOC paint, adhesives as well as carpets add to the sustainability factor of the facility. The office also imbibes sustainable education elements.
