ISG wins $32 million contract for five star hotel in London


ISG, a UK-based provider of office fit out, refurbishment, renovations and construction services, has secures a £20 million ($31.68 million) contract from developer Supreme Hotels to convert the existing Queen Anne’s Chambers building in Westminster, London into a five star InterContinental Hotel.


Pursuant to the contract, the company will fit out 256 en-suite guest bedrooms on levels one to six of the building. The rooms will include suites and a large presidential suite on level six. The company will also develop an Executive Club bar and lounge area on the sixth floor of the building. The ground floor of the building will be converted into various guest spaces including a reception area, tea lounge, a winter garden area, contemporary restaurant as well as a pub.

Scope of work involves structural alterations on the basement and ground floor levels to create an open plan layout and to join the three distinct structures into a single unified building. The contract also involves installation of seven new lifts within the building, which include three in front, three at the back of house and one fire service access lift. The company will also construct a helical staircase from basement to ground floor.

The ground floor of the building will house back of house offices and facilities, including the restaurant and bar kitchens. At basement level, the hotel will have conference and banqueting space as well as a gym and other back of house facilities.

ISG will also work on the external facade of the building and change the windows. It will also construct a new porte cochère to allow vehicular drop off and pick up under cover at the hotel entrance. The hotel is scheduled to open by the end of 2012.
