ISG to build $5.5 million sports facility at King's College London
ISG Plc, a UK-based fit out, refurbishment, renovations and construction service provider, has secured a £3.5 million ($5.5 million) contract to build a highly sustainable sports facility at King’s College London in UK.
The new facility will be built at the College's Honor Oak Park sports ground, located in the south east of London. Scope of work involves construction of a two-storey building for the College's hockey, football and rugby teams as well as for visiting teams from other universities.
The building will feature changing facilities and function rooms on the ground floor while the first floor will feature a viewing gallery. The facility will offer 10 changing rooms. The new build will be a traditional brick and block work building, which will sit adjacent to one of the two artificial pitches.
The function rooms will feature curtain walling, which will optimize the amount of natural light entering the building and offer views of the surrounding sports fields. A first floor viewing gallery will have steel frame and will boast an open plan layout, which will enable 360 degree view.
The new facility will also feature efficient mechanical and electrical services and high performance building materials in order to achieve the targeted BREEAM Excellent environmental rating.
