INTERIORS UK 2013: A preview

INTERIORS UK 2013, which will be held from 20-23 January at the NEC Birmingham, is poised to offer retailers, designers and architects a vast selection of products from over 600 of the leading international interiors manufacturers.

Modern retailing is the overarching theme for the 2013 show with various beautiful retailer display areas curated by a mix of designers throughout the show and main entrances. A key highlight of the show would be the entrance designed by interiors legend Nina Campbell. The individual halls entrances will be defined by one of the signature elements of Nina Campbell – colour – and is expected to be a blend of tradition and opulence with new colour themes such as coral, apple green, aqua and stone.

Nina Campbell will also host a feature space in Hall 3 with two stands. Her ‘Home’ shall reflect her own, cosy, inviting feel. Built around the ethos that mixing style and comfort is essential it will reflect exactly what she achieves when designing for her clients and her own homes. Nina’s shop across the aisle will take the visitors to Walton Street in London where her shop has been for 35 years. The visitors can expect the same shopping experience with beautiful glass, table linen, whimsical china, embroidered cushions and other home accessories and gifts.

The year 2013 will also see the return of designersblock who will create a totally new store concept, brand and identity – the designersblock department store. This giant feature will include a mix of departments featuring furniture, accessories, toys, lighting, and more, all sourced from designersblock’s network of young designers and design makers. The area will also house the regular features of the show such as New Design Britain, Birmingham City University, INTERIORS UK’s Seminar Theatre, the VIP lounge and press office.

INTERIORS UK will also host informative, thought-provoking seminars and talks with the line-up including the likes of Nayna Macintosh (Marks & Spencer’s Director of Store Design), Jonathan Webb (Retail in Action), Stylus, Mark Hughes-Webb (Brandhub), Nic Cumisky (Google), Callum Lumsden (Lumsden Design), Melinda Ashton Turner (Stylist – talking about visual merchandising), Naomi Cleaver and Nina Campbell.

Another new addition to the 2013 show is the Pitfield pop up shop and cafe in Hall 4. Pitfield is an eclectic interior design shop and café in Shoreditch, London, owned by designers Shaun Clarkson and Paul Brewster.
