Indiana Landmarks opens Tivoli Theatre in Indiana after renovation
America-based private statewide historic preservation organisation Indiana Landmarks, in partnership with Cook Group Inc., has opened the renovated Tivoli theatre in Indiana.
Closed in 1998, the new Tivoli Theatre has undergone various transformations. Exhibiting a new look, the theatre features completely restored interior and exterior with a modern infrastructure that preserves the theatre’s historic character.
The renovations also included an addition to the north side of the building that provides a kitchen, restrooms, and additional office space.
Built by the Spencer artist E M Viquesney, the Tivoli Theatre was originally opened on New Year’s Eve in 1928. The Tivoli was damaged in a fire in 1985, but continued to operate until 1998.
Owned by Owen County Preservations, the theatre was previously listed as an endangered property under the protection of Indiana Landmarks.
