IHG to open Hotel Indigo in Chicago
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is planning to open its third upscale boutique brand Hotel Indigo in Chicago, as part of its expansion in the US.
Expected to open in spring 2014, the 156-room hotel named ‘The Hotel Indigo Chicago-Millenium Park hotel’ will be located in the downtown area’s Atlantic Bank Building.
The hotel, which will undergo an estimated $20 million renovation, will feature design elements that reflect its local neighbourhood just north of Millennium Park within Chicago’s central business district.
As part of renovations, the hotel will add four floors to the 101-year-old building, a rooftop bar, and a restaurant managed by chef David Burke. The hotel will retain many of its historic features, including the original white enamel terra cotta exterior, along with its various amenities.
Accessible to many of Chicago’s restaurants, shopping and theatre districts, the new hotel will be located near the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and Millenium Park, the Magnificent Mile, Grant Park, the Art Institute of Chicago and several corporate offices.
The new hotel, owned by Crown Series 168 North Michigan, will be managed by First Hospitality Group, which is franchised by an affiliate of IHG.
