Hobbs Brook Management tops out Norwood office building
Norwood, MA Hobbs Brook Management LLC has topped off a Class-A office building in Norwood, Massachusetts, US.
The project has been designed by Margulies Perruzzi Architects with Columbia Construction Company serving as the construction manager. The four-level structure will cover an area of 160,000 square feet. The building facade will be made of pre-cast concrete and metal rain screen panels.
The building will house separate entryways and lobbies for its two tenants including FM Global, and Dedham Medical Associates. The entrance of FM Global will comprise a glass canopy. The Dedham Medical Associates' office will sport a drop-off canopy entrance for patient convenience as well as an adjacent stair tower which is enclosed by glass.
The facility will also incorporate various green features such as a highly-reflective roof to repel heat and cut down energy usage. The exterior window system of the building will comprise solar shading to reduce heat gain. The facility will also be equipped with an efficient HVAC unit.
The property will reap 40% in water cost cuts by employing water-efficient measures. Water consumption for irrigation will be decreased with incorporation of drought-tolerant plant materials. The facility will also feature bioswale and rain gardens which will eliminate silt and pollution from surface water runoff before releasing into the storm water system.
Use of recycled and regionally-sourced construction materials will add to the building's sustainability. Installation of shower facilities, and increased preferred parking areas for hybrid vehicles and car poolers will boost the green venture.
The project is due to be over by early 2013.
