Hammerson wins approval for Centrale Shopping Centre redevelopment
Hammerson Plc, a UK-based real estate company, has secured the approval of the London Borough of Croydon for the redevelopment of Centrale Shopping Centre in Croydon, UK.
Estimated value of the project is £50 million ($79.07 million). Designed by Leslie Jones Architecture, the project aims at reconfiguring 13,175 square metre of internal retail spaces and creation of a family-oriented leisure venue.
The remodeled shopping centre will feature 11-screen cinema from National Amusements, which will be the company's debut venture in London. The project also involves construction of two retail units and eight new restaurants.
Work on the scheme is scheduled to start in early 2013 and is due for completion by 2014 end.
The redevelopment of Centrale forms an integral part of Hammerson strategy to develop retail opportunities in Croydon.
