Halifax Stanfield International Airport undergoes renovation

Construction work is underway at the CAD44.5 million ($43.07 million) upgrade and extension of the main terminal building of Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Nova Scotia, Canada.

The upgrade project is aimed at improving the check-in process using the latest in passenger processing technology.

Work has started to upgrade and expand the main check-in hall of the terminal building at the airport. These improvements will provide additional space for passenger check-in and circulation, and improved baggage handling and screening systems. It is expected to be the only airport in Canada with a new advanced baggage system in both the domestic and trans-border check-in halls. The project will also feature a modernised façade, which is in-line with the rest of the terminal building.

Construction is scheduled to be complete in spring 2014. The work will be done in phases to minimise impact on travellers.
