Hagaman Memorial Library starts renovation, expansion
The Hagaman Memorial Library in East Haven, Connecticut, US has embarked on a refurbishment and expansion project.
The revamp has been designed by Avon-based Tuthill and Wells Architects, and will be developed by Shelton's Dappreio Construction and Development, LLC. There will be revamp or addition of 1200 square feet of total area to the library as part of the project.
Work will involve creation of a new community room. The new community room will have a capacity to accommodate almost 75 and will be used to host meetings and events. The rooms will also facilitate after-hour gatherings by offering the option to be closed off from the rest portion of the building. A door will be installed in the area leading to this room.
The garage of the library will be transformed to an extension of the children’s room post revamp work. The new children's room will sport a young adult book wing, a computer space, and the children librarian's office. The facility will also be remodelled to allow accessibility to the disabled.
The project will be financed via private contributions. Construction is expected to have a duration of nearly three months with the new areas slated to open by mid-2012.
