Ground broken for new Town Hall and Health Centre in Egedal

Ground has been broken for the new Town Hall and Health Centre in Egedal, Denmark, which is designed by the Denmark-based Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with SLA, Henrik Larsen Engineering Consultants and Nielsen Consulting Engineers.

Designed as a slate-clad building, the five-storied Egedal Town Hall will feature a CO2-reducing rooftop garden and a 950-square-metre town square. An indoor atrium with amphitheatre stairs and flexible meeting room will be created, which will be visible to and from the office environment of the administrative spaces.

The Town Hall will be designed to house 460 workers. It will provide direct access to the health centre, which is designed to serve 150 employees. Apart from that 20 apartments for elderly citizens will also be built on top of the health centre.

The sustainability of the energy-efficient design makes provision for the maximum use of daylight throughout the interior places.

Ground was broken for the facility on 11 March 2013. The building is scheduled for completion in 2014.
