Ground broken for new parking facilities at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport
Ground has been broken for a $40 million parking garage and rental car centre at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport in the city of Wichita, US.
The project will include a four-level, 1,600-space parking garage designed for potential expansion; covered rental car pick-up and drop-off on the first level; rental car agency customer service center adjacent to the garage; and new surface parking lot, including Close-in, Economy and Park & Ride.
The garage and rental car centre are part of the new airport terminal, and will be connected through a crosswalk canopy. The new parking garage will increase the number of parking spaces by more than 1,200.
Construction is set to begin in the third week of June. The parking and rental car facilities are being financed with airport parking revenues and rental car fees. The new terminal is expected to open in the spring of 2015.
