Ground broken for Hongqiao SunnyWorld Centre in Shanghai

Hongqiao Vantone SunnyWorld Centre, a mixed-use sustainable masterplan designed and engineered by the UK-based architectural firm Foster + Partners, has broken ground in Shanghai.

Bringing together the flexible office buildings, the new mixed-use Hongqiao Vantone SunnyWorld Centre is located on a new four-hectare public park. On the ground level it accommodates shops, restaurants and a range of new civic spaces while offices are located on the above floor.

Featuring sustainable elements in its design, the office buildings border the linear park and are oriented to minimise solar gains and maximise views. To create visual connections between the ground level and offices above as well as bringing greenery into the site, the buildings are laid out as triangular fingers. The building also features slender floor plates to allow the maximum inflitration of daylight and natural ventilation.

Providing an upscale mixed-use facility, the new Hongqiao Vantone SunnyWorld Centre is designed to become a new landmark in the locality.
