Ground broken for $70 million recreational centre

Ground has been broken for a $70 million recreational centre in Williston State College, which is touted as the largest recreational centre in North Dakota and one of the biggest in the US.

Designed by a Denver-based architecture company, the recreation centre will be spread over 234,000 square feet. It will feature a water park and an Olympic-size swimming pool, four basketball courts, four tennis courts, a 200 meter running track, and a golf simulator along with other features.

The recreation centre is being built to attract more families to Williston as oil industry workers consider making North Dakota their permanent home. Construction of the centre is expected to be complete by March 2014.
