Ground broken for $28 million Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital Springfield


McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. has broken ground for the $28 million Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital Springfield for Mercy and Centerre Healthcare in Springfield, which is designed by Tennessee-based Earl Swensson Associates, Inc.


Consisting of 63,000 square feet of space, the new rehab hospital will be a two-storied facility just across the street from the Mercy Orthopedic Hospital Springfield site.

Designed to provide inpatient rehabilitation for patients who are recovering from strokes, brain or spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions, the rehab hospital will feature 60 beds.

The construction of the rehab hospital is expected to be completed by early 2014. Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital Springfield is a partnership between Catholic healthcare system Mercy and Centerre Healthcare Corporation, a national leader in the development and operation of rehabilitation hospitals.
