gpstudio to design micro-concept store for Theo Fennell
Luxury retail design consultancy gpstudio is designing a micro-concept boutique store for the jeweller Theo Fennell in Burlington Arcade, London.
The store will be designed in a manner that each jewellery piece will present its own story. The artefacts that inspired the work, along with quotations, letters, extracts from books and other ephemera, will be on show alongside the jewellery, allowing Fennell to show how he creates his pieces, from inspiration to finished article. The store will occupy two floors of space. Alongside the one-off pieces, several accessible pieces will be arranged across two storeys.
Founder of gpstudio Gregor Jackson said that the compact space of the store presented various design challenges for the firm. He added that the firm has used the store to tell Theo's story and to create a concept space that would take customers inside his mind.
Work will commence on the Burlington Arcade space in June 2012 and the store will open for the first time in August.
