Goettsch Partners to design Grand Hyatt hotel in Bogota


Global architecture firm Goettsch Partners (GP) has been selected to design the new Grand Hyatt hotel in Bogota, Colombia which will be the first Hyatt-branded hotel in the Latin American city.


The hotel will be a key component of the Ciudad Empresarial Sarmiento Angulo, a commercial mixed-use development planned for 18 buildings.

The Grand Hyatt Bogotá will be a contemporary 297 rooms facility, including 54 suites. Guestrooms and suites will range in size from 473 square feet to 2,368 square feet. It will feature two restaurants, a lobby lounge, a patisserie, and more than 24,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 10,800 square feet ballroom. Additional hotel amenities will include a state-of-the-art fitness centre, an indoor pool, and a luxury spa.

Owned and constructed by Organización Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo, the project will be the seventh Grand Hyatt property designed by Goettsch Partners, including others in Guangzhou, China, and Mumbai, India, and their second in South America, after São Paulo.

Located along Calle 26, the city’s bustling Avenida El Dorado, the hotel will be a short distance from Simón Bolívar Park, National University, the La Gran Estación retail mall, and numerous companies and government ministries, including the Chamber of Commerce, the Federal Reserve, and the US Embassy.

The project will be designed in collaboration with local firm Construcciones Planificadas S A, a firm that is part of Organización Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo. It is expected to open by early 2015.
