Giorgio Borruso puts Best foot forward for top award

The interior design scheme of the Carlo Pazolini shoe shop in Milan by Giorgio Borruso Design has won the Red Dot Best of the Best award.

The project, which was on the cover of FX in March this year, features more than 100 moulded display shelves, each of which is cantilevered from the store's back wall with a single steel tube.

These shelves, many of which are brightly coloured, appear to float in front of the wall, creating what Borruso describes as a second façade within the store.

The Red Dot Design Awards are given out once a year as a part of an international competition to recognise 'innovative and sophisticated design projects and products' from a number of fields, including communication design, industrial design and architecture.
