Gettysburg Hospital to open new emergency unit addition
Gettysburg Hospital in Pennsylvania, US is set to open its new $18.1 million emergency department on 4 April 2012.
The new emergency wing has been designed by Maryland-based architecture firm Wilmot Sanz Incorporation with Harrisburg-based Alexander Building Construction Company serving as the general contractor. It will span over an area of 19,000 square feet, increasing the size of the current emergency unit by over thrice.
The new addition will sport 18 private treatment rooms, separate entrances with staff-only corridors, as well as a vending space with café seating facilities. Among other features of the new emergency unit include pediatric waiting space, and additional restrooms for patients and visitors.
The present emergency wing will be transformed into staff areas and shell space for future emergency department expansion. The project is due to be fully over by August 2012.
