GE opens new green office in UAE
US-based General Electric has opened a new office in Abu Dhabi.
Built on contemporary lines, the new environment friendly office building has been built at Sowwah Square, a commercial business district of Abu Dhabi and has been designed by UAE-based architectural practice AK Design.
With a gross area of 3800 square metres, the office space is spread over two levels and is a LEED Environmental Pre-certified building. The building offers views of Al Maryah Island. Its design enables it to get maximum benefit from natural light.
The building was constructed using materials which had high percentage of recycled substance, and are highly sustainable and have minimum impact on climate change. The building features daylight control sensors as well as motion sensors, which adjust the internal light as per outside light and occupancy of the place.
Most of the equipment used in the building is from GE's own environment friendly portfolio. The office is being used to bring together GE's four office sites in Abu Dhabi and will house 300 employees of the company.
