GE Lighting launches new LED light

Us-based GE Lighting LLC has launched a new light called GE Energy Smart in the US.

Developed by the company's East Cleveland, Ohio LED lab, the new lighting consumes only 27W of power to generate more than 1,600 lumens of light, which is comparable to the output of a 100W incandescent lamp.

Launched at LIGHTFAIR International in Las Vegas, the GE Energy Smart 27W LED bulb features an innovative synthetic jet technology, which was jointly developed by GE and Nuventix, the creator of LED cooling technologies for energy-efficient lighting.

Features of the new lights include uniform omnidirectional light distribution, 3000K color temperature, 25,000-hour life rating, dimmable, no mercury, instant full brightness and more than 60 lumens per watt. The new light is shaped like any typical A-19 bulb.

The product is likely to be available in the US and Canadian market in the first half of 2013.
