Gabbertas designs scoop four furniture Guild Quality Awards
Furniture designer Mark Gabbertas has clinched four awards for excellence with new tables and chairs in this year’s awards from the Furniture Makers Guild. The Design Guild Mark, now in its sixth year, was set up by the Furniture Makers Company, a City of London livery company, to reward excellence in volume production furniture design created in Britain and the best of British furniture designers working abroad.
Mark Gabbertas, founder of Gabbertas Studio and a past participant in the FX Design Seminar series, has been awarded Design Guild Marks for furniture created for two companies: the Diabolo table (above), Mir and MirA seating for Chorus Furniture, and the Metro table range for Lyndon Design.
In the 2013 round of annually made awards, 21 Design Guild Marks were issued, including for seating, tables and bookshelves. Among the winners was the Jonty collection of table, chair and stool, designed by Simon Pengelly, also for Chorus Furniture.
2013 awarded products will be on show at the Design Guild Marks stand at 100% Design, 18-21 September at Earls Court.
