FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 to utilise glass roofs from AGC

Glass, chemicals and ceramics manufacturer AGC has been selected to provide glass roofs for player and official benches at the FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013 to be held between 15-30 June.

The roofs, which will be created by incorporating Dragontrail cover glass technology, will be used at all matches of the 16-game tournament, a prelude to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Unlike conventional bench roofs which are made from plastic, the glass roofs will be made of three layers of Dragontrail, said to be a high-performance, flexible and highly scratch-resistant glass.

Resistant to deformation, discolouration and deterioration, the glass claims to remain clear and transparent over a long period of time and offers best-possible visual experience for spectators.

Manufactured in Japan, it is 11.5m long, 1.9m tall, 1m deep, and 6mm thick. The glass roof can accommodate 23 seats.
