Ernestomeda launches ‘Icon’ sustainable kitchen

Italy-based modular kitchen manufacturer Ernestomeda has launched a new sustainable kitchen model christened Icon.

Icon is designed by architect Joseph Bavuso for Ernestomeda. Its design is based on the principles of eco-sustainability, hygiene and well being. The kitchen aims to enhance the food experience of the user by means of an environment that supports the food. Icon features special door opening and closing mechanisms apart from extensible peninsulas.

The kitchen is finished in Ernestomeda’s proprietary ICONcrete material that gives it a concrete look. The entire unit features concrete and wood finishes, paired with elements in metal and glass, giving it a sophisticated look. Corian glass is used for the glass surfaces in the kitchen to ensure for rigorous exposure to heat. Icon is due to be displayed at the Eurocucina 2012.
