UK-based Eric Wright Civil Engineering has won a £1.1 million ($1.67 million) contract from the Cheshire West and Cheshire Borough Council to upgrade the A54 and Dene Drive in Winsford, Cheshire.

Estimated to take 16-weeks to complete, the project includes carriageway widening works, traffic signal replacement, street lighting upgrades and resurfacing work.

The main focus of the project will be the upgradation of the traffic signal layout at the junction of the A54 High Street/Dene Drive/Grange Lane in Winsford.

To accommodate extra lanes through the junction and additional pedestrian crossings, the carriageway will be extensively widened to the south of the A54 and on both sides of Dene Drive. Apart from that the upgrade also includes creation of new cycle paths and footpaths around the junction.
