Doshi Levien creates Chandigarh line for Moroso

Italian brand Moroso has launched the Chandigarh collection.

The collection, including a lounge chair, a sofa and low tables, has been designed by London designers Doshi Levien. The design of the line draws inspiration from the Modernist architect Le Corbusier and his masterplan of the Indian city of Chandigarh in the 1950s. The sofa is clad in leather or fabric. The fabric sports a printed pattern evoking memory of the city of Chandigarh.

The sofa is soft, comfortable, and compact. It also offers a slim and lightweight look. The seat of the furniture is made of moulded foam and sits within a delicate frame made in steel. The designer has also come up with a series of coffee tables to compliment the range which makes use of glass, terrazzo, polished metal as well as tubular steel.

The furniture pieces have been showcased at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2012 held in Italy.
