Curry Subaru-Hyundai to open new sustainable dealership
Curry Subaru-Hyundai, a member of 93-year-old Curry Automotive, is set to open a new LEED-certified dealership on Cortlandt Boulevard, New York, US on 4 June 2012.
The facility will be the area's first green dealership and will cover an area of 30,000 square feet. The project was a collaborative initiative of New York-based firms including Architectural Visions PLLC, GTL Construction LLC, and O’Dea, Lynch, Abbattista (OLA) Consulting Engineers PC.
The dealership will imbibe several eco-friendly elements including installation of a highly reflective roofing in light tone to repel heat. The facility will incorporate spray foam roof insulation to offer greater insulating value and reduce air infiltration. It will also feature high-performance insulation and glass to decrease stress on HVAC systems and allow for smaller systems.
The lighting systems adorning the interior of the facility will run low on energy consumption. The outdoor lighting fixtures of the building will minimise light pollution beyond the property line onto adjacent residential areas.
The property will cut down water required for irrigation needs by incorporating native and local plants in the landscape. It will also make use of locally-sourced reclaimed materials, and will employ a construction waste management plan to recycle construction debris.
