Construction underway at Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre

Construction work is underway at the Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre in Fife, Scotland with the steel framework already completed.

Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre, upon completion, will be the new sports and leisure venue for the city. It will offer a new 25m x six-lane swimming pool with poolside spectating for 90 people and 16.67m x 8m training pool with an underwater moveable floor, along with an array of indoor sports facilities, such as a multi-purpose aerobics studio, a four-court sports hall, purpose-built health suite with sauna and steam room, a 60-station gym, children's play centre with cafe, and meeting room.

The training pool will have a floating floor, which can be lowered using cables. This will enable an increased floor depth, which can be up to two metres deep. The first floor of the building, towards the backside, will feature a sports hall. The entire building will have an area of 5000 square metres.

With the completion of steel work, the construction work has moved into next phase, which involves cladding and roofing for the sports hall. Work on the Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre is adhering to its time and budget scheduled.

The company anticipates completion of construction by May 2013. The official opening of the facility is scheduled for July 2013.
